The project is a further extension of the first natural gas liquefaction plant in the Western Pacific Area, established in the early 70’s. Between 1991 - 1994, DYWIDAG LNG Technology designed and built in Brunei the first two full containment LNG storage tanks with an outer prestressed concrete “shell”.
Ground conditions in the tank area by 1,328 stone columns were improved successfully. The detailed design and engineering works as well as the reinforcement works of the 77.90 m diameter concrete bottom slab were executed on schedule.
The first structural concrete, produced by on site batching facilities, was poured in June 2013; the main civil works were completed in the first quarter of 2014. Commissioning and start up, upon construction of the inner tank, was completed in May 2015.
